Phictiv is back ! after 3 huge releases from mirweis sangin, jichael mackson and tcs team the most underrated label from geneva strikes back with a new ep. needless to say that we have no f*** idea who is john mustang ! new american artist or an hidden famous swiss producers ? no one knows… anyway « into ya pants » is serious dancefloor weapon, the original mix pumps on the bass, chordish synth, male vocals and wah-wah loop… thinks about the Modernist living in Chicago ! the warehouse mix goes nasty : ruff hihats that Steve Poindexter would die for, endless acid bassline & bleeps, sounds like a good old dirty house track build to satisfy your chimic pulsion. On the flip side Mustang rebuilt the track in a deep house version : rollin’ bass, large echoes, stomping rhythm and more space for the vocals : perfect late night club shaker.

Everybody remembers the famous “Blowjob” of Jichael Mackson on Pastamusik 05 (www.pastamusik.de). Now Jichael comes back for a long trip to Geneva….” Tee trinken im braunen salon “ is an endless upbuilding minimal track( up to 20 minutes !) : neo detroit chords , bleepy acid bass , warm analog flavoured and floating melancholic synth . Somewhere between Plastikman and Monolake , this guy from Munich takes his time to catch the audience and produces one of the most innovative spaced out tune since a long time ! On the flip side , 2 tracks of deep atmospheric minihouse : “ O.T.” delivers a slow motion Tb303 riding on a stompin’ raw rythm and reduced hihats . “Used” goes dubby tech house with futuristic synth and crispy soundscapes close to Delsin and Ampoule works , epic techno at its best !

Three tracks and five loops, more phat grooves from Geneva heads you can trust : Quenum (Access 58), Sam One and Oli (Mental Groove) reunited on a single that's bursting with energy and inventiveness.

Quenum & Sam One open with "OK"'s snaking, crackling groove, a rugged bass-heavy people mover deliriously sprinkled with vocal and percussive microsounds.

Oli's loops then unfold like a mini-toolbox for DJs : straight slamming on the first, minimal deep tech on the second, pounding bass with military-grade hihats on the third, then a skippy beat with house keys. The last loop is an ambient breakdown.

B-side, we step into the "Digital Underground" of Quenum & Sam One. Brace yourself for the meanest bass you've heard in a while, topped by ear-splitting hi hats and unfolding into an orgy of cut-up grooves and samples yet never losing its heavy, pounding drive. The "vox mix" follows in a more sparse, focused style creating tribal rhythms from unusual patterns.

Mirweis is the man behind the graceful electronic bells and whistles on this record, his first ever vinyl outing although he’s been secretly producing in his home, playing live and deejaying for some years.

" moisissure" : a low, sleek groove to bootstrap any DJ set safely. Drawing crowds out of stand-by mode and into a state of blissful wobbliness, ready to experience the unexpected. A perfect appetiser.

"athan dance" : blends in perfectly with the previous, diving in with aquatic percussions, hypnotic samples and driving drums. Absorbing from the beginning to the very end, filled with rare magic and distant echoes of Mirweis' native Afghanistan.

"dark addictions" : somewhat reminiscent of an undiscovered tribe's national anthem. A dank digital rainforest filled with chilling yearnings and haunting after-images of barely perceptible things at play in the lush foliage. Recommended music to face your fears by.

"rubab dub" : a simple yet penetrating loop, ear-catching and pleasing. Mirweis shows that he can also masterfully distill lighter sonics when needed.

As a whole, the music is carefully conceived and craftily arranged while retaining the roughness of authenticity.
